On the lines of the popular Kaun Banega Crorpati (KBC), the Hindu Swyamsevak Sangha—considered the wing of the RSS in the US—has launched Kaun Banega Ramayana Expert in the US.
The Indian version of the Who Wants to Become a Millionaire, KBC-II was launched by Star Plus in the US some two months ago.
Attracted by the high viwership of KBC-II among the Indian population, the Sangha leaders decided to use its name to attract Hindu children. Launched nationwide on Makar Sankranti—January 14—KBRE is a quiz organised by Balagokulam, an HSS children’s magazine.
HSS said: ‘‘Its objective in launching the quiz is to create awareness in Hindu children about the Ramayana.’’
HSS leaders expect hundreds of Hindu children to participate. Cash prizes worth over Rs. 4.5 lakh have already been announced for the winners. During the first phase—January 14 to March 31—children are required to register and appear for an online Ramayana quiz.
