In a bid to come clear of all controversies relating to last year’s census conducted in the tiger reserves in Rajasthan, the Vasundhara Raje government today appointed principal secretary, women and child welfare, Alka Kala, to scrutinise the report and submit her views within a month.
Forest and Environment Minister Laxmi Naryan Dave said the state was conducting the inquiry to end ‘‘all kinds of controversies surrounding the census report relating to the tigers in Sariska and Ranthambhore reserves and also to find and punish those who were responsible for the vanishing of the big cats’’.
