Suresh Raina may not be in the reckoning for a Test spot any time in the future, but he did his chances of a future call-up no harm as he smashed 146 to help India A set a victory target of 355 for New Zealand A on the penultimate day of their four-day match at the M A Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday. India A were all out for 336 in 85 overs, 33 minutes after tea. The hosts lost their last five wickets in six overs after being 318 for five in the 80th over.

In reply, the Kiwis were 41 for one in 18 overs, losing opener B J Watling 6 to Mohnish Parmar. Aaron Redmond 25 and skipper Peter Fulton 7 were at the crease at close of play.

Coming at the fall of overnight batsman Sahil Kukreja8217;s 41 wicket, Raina was dropped by Fulton when on 18. He went on to add 83 runs for the third wicket with M Vijay 57, 59 runs for the fifth wicket with Yusuf Pathan 25 and 88 runs for the sixth wicket with Wriddhiman Saha, who scored 39.
