
Comedy king Kondke dead
MUMBAI: Dada Kondke, the king of comedy, who revived the fortunes of Marathi cinema with a string of jubilee hits, died here early on Saturday following a heart attack. He was 68. NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan expelled a diplomat each on Saturday. While P N Nair, the Visa Attache at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, was declared persona-non-grata by the Pakistani Government and asked to leave the country within 72 hours, India expelled an official of the Pakistani High Commission in apparent retaliation.

NEW DELHI: Holi proved to be a day of deaths throughout the country. At 23 people have died in the revelry that is normally associated with the festival of colour. Eleven deaths were reported from UP, five from Bihar and 7 in Gujarat. While in UP and Bihar the deaths were due to group clashes, drowning claimed seven in Gujarat.

Frigates ordered
MUMBAI: THE Indian Navy formally placed orders for three Project 17 class of stealth8217; frigates with the Mumbai-based Mazagon Docks Ltd on Thursday. These are the first orders for a Principal Surface Combatant placed with any Indian yard in over a decade.
