Dhaka bus dry run on Tuesday

CALCUTTA: The dry run of the bus from Dhaka to Calcutta will be held on April six, a spokesman of the West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation, operators of the service from here, said tonight. The air-conditioned bus of The bangladesh Road Transport Corporation BRTC will carry BRTC functionaries and officials of the Bangladesh transport department to Calcutta on Tuesday. It was expected to reach Haridaspur on the India-Bangladesh border around noon, the spokesman said.

Fire claims five

VALSAD: Five persons of a family, including two women and a child, were charred to death in their house due to a fire at Chanod village near Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation estate in Vapi, in Valsad district last night. The fire was caused by a short-circuit and heaps of industrial waste in the vicinity acted as a catalyst.

Exide chief

CALCUTTA: Missing Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Exide Industries Satyabrata Ganguly remained untraced even afterthree days today, with the police yet to make a breakthrough. Deputy Commissioner of Police I, detective department, N C Ghosh said the search for Ganguly had been intensified and all steps taken in case of missing persons.
