Fire cleared without cuts
NEW DELHI: Deepa Mehta8217;s controversial film Fire, which was sent by government for review, has been cleared by the censors with no cuts8217;.

8220;The Censor Board has said no cuts are needed and we have accepted that decision,8221; Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan told journalists. The film was sent back to the Central Board for Film Certification CBFC for review after violent protests by Shiv Sainiks against portrayal of a lesbian relationship in the film.

Mahajan said the Government had never banned the film and anyone was free to screen it. Screening of the film was disrupted in cinema halls in Delhi and Mumbai by Shiv Sena activists.

Bhagwat move
PUNE: Former navy chief Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat is likely to make a public statement on the eve of opening of Parliament session regarding the reasons for sacking him unceremoniously.

This was indicated by his wife Niloufer Bhagwat while talking to newsmen today.
