JANUARY 30: 16 of family done to death in Lanka
COLOMBO: At least 16 members of a family were brutally murdered in a revenge killing in southern Sri Lanka on Friday while heavy fighting between troops and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam guerrillas in the North left one soldier and nine rebels dead on Thursday. The carnage is said to be related to the deposition by the family against a person in a criminal case.

NEW DELHI: A US court has barred trial of Daya Singh Lahoria, extradited to India for allegedly playing a key role in the 1993 bomb blast in an attempt to kill the then Youth Congress president M S Bitta, under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act TADA.

Jain muni dead
NEW DELHI: Jain saint Acharya Saubhagya Muni died of a heart attack here on Thursday, community sources said on Friday. He was 74. He was a disciple of the late Acharya Sushil Muni.
