Meghalaya Govt faces trust vote

SHILLONG: Meghalaya8217;s United Parliamentary Forum UPF coalition ministry, shaken by the resignation of three ministers, will face a no-confidence motion on June 25. The motion, tabled by the Congress-led United Meghalaya Parliamentary Forum UMPF leader and former chief minister DD Lapang, was admitted by Speaker EK Mawlong on Wednesday. The resignation of three ministers jolted the fragile three-month-old ruling coalition which has a strength of 32 members in the 60-seat Assembly as against 28 members of UMPF.

Brazil in last 16Brazil secured a spot in the second round of the World Cup with a 3-0 win over Morocco in a Group A encounter at Nantes, today. The defending champions led 2-0 at theinterval through goals by Ronaldo and Rivaldo before Bebeto added to the score.

  • In group C, Austria8217;s Ivaca Vastic denied Chile their second victory after Italy had held them 2-2. Chile and Austria drew 1-1. Salas scored with a 79th minute strike, but the final minute equaliser spoiled Chile8217;s party.
