
PUNE, May 9: Ranjit Kamtekar8217;s brisk knock of 88 along with a supportive role from Harshwardhan Chikodi 2/39 powered PYC Hindu Gymkhana lift the late Kamal Bhandarkar memorial cricket trophy with a 49 run victory over Club of Maharashtra in the final, played at the Nehru Stadium ground here, on Friday.
It was an unfortunate ending for Club of Maharashtra, who made an impressive start in the tournament and followed it up had a good run only to tumble in the final as their batsmen failed to live up to their expectations.
While on the other side, it was a good show of team work which enabled PYC win the under-19 section trophy.
For Club of Maharashtra, Narendra Jadhav 3/53 and Manish Dave 2/25 did well to restrict PYC8217;s run rate. But they were not too successful in restricting PYC8217;s star batsman Ranjit Kamtekar, who earned the Man-of-the-Match award for his 80 runs knock, which helped the team post 248 for 7.
PYC boys, while defending their total, exhibited a good fielding and tight bowling, restricting CoM to 200 for 8 in 45 overs.
