NEW DELHI, September 26: The Punjab Gymnastic Association will host the Central South Asian Gymnastic Championships (men and women) at Patiala from December 27 to 29. A sub-committee has been formed to prepare a blue print to organise the meet. Sudhir Mittal (chairman), PS Virk and chief Indian gymnastic coach G S Bawa are the members of the sub-committee. A sum of Rs 10 lakh has been provided to organise the championship.

Gymnasts from India, Pakistan, Bangaladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and Turkmanistan would take part in the championship. A delegation from Afghanistan will also visit Patiala during the championship. However, Afganistan will not send any gymnast.

Each affiliated unit is permitted to send a contingent of 12 gymnasts, four coaches, four judges, one doctor/physiotherapist, two managers and one head of the delegation.

The Punjab Gymnastic Association has decided to award a cash incentive of Rs 50,000 each for men and women gymnastic coaches in cash Punjab win the team championship in the 2000 National Games to be hosted by Punjab.
