CHANDIGARH, OCT 11: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee would meet here on October 16 to review the post-poll political situation in the state.

PPCC general secretary Ramesh Singla said the meeting would also be attended by members of the district Congress committees, MLAs, MPs and heads of the frontal organisations. It would be followed by a meeting of the district Congress presidents.

Singla repeated the demand earlier made by PPCC chief Amarinder Singh demanding resignation of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, "who had lost the confidence of the people as reflected in the mandate given by the people in the state".

Meanwhile, Akali Dal (Amritsar) senior vice-president Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, MLA, said the people had rejected the policies and programmes of the Badal government and as such, he had no moral right to lead the government and the party.

He listed the confrontation with Akal Takht by Badal as one of the reasons for the humiliating defeat of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal.
