Talk on nuclear explosions
Bharatiya Rajniti Abhyas Mandal, in association with Pune University’s Centre for Advance Strategic Studies, will organise a symposium on the theme of `Indian nuclear explosion and aftermath’ at Bharat Natya Mandir at 6 p.m. on May 22.

The speakers will be Prof. Ram Kapse, Air Marshal S Kulkarni (Retd.), former Pune University vice-chancellor Dr. V G Bhide and defence expert Dr. Shrikant Parajanpe.

CITU to hold morcha
Pune unit of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) will organise a morcha of workers belonging to the unorganised sector to the district collectorate on May 21 to demand implementation of Minimum Wages Act. The morcha, led by Prof. Ajit Abhyankar and others, will commence at Balgandharva auditorium at 3.30 p.m.

Agarwal awarded
Pune-based Suresh Chand Agarwal, senior traffic inspector (accounts), has been awarded the Railway Minister’s award at a function held at New Delhi recently. The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, was presented to him by Railway Minister Nitish Kumar.

No Tobacco Day
Cancer Patients Aid Association will organise free ENT and lung cancer check-up camps at Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital on May 27, at Krishna Hospital on May 28 and at Shree Polyclinic on Nagar Road on May 29 on the occasion of the world `No Tobacco Day’ which falls on May 31. Those wishing to attend the camp should register on telephone no. 680066. A week-long counselling cell and an exhibition on lung and oral cancer will be held at Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital.
