Kalmadi group plays it cool
Local supporters of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi founder Suresh Kalmadi on Friday appeared to have adopted restraint in spite of their leader8217;s election to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, even as they looked forward to his arrival in the city on Sunday.

8220;Sureshbhai will be accorded a grand welcome when he arrives from Mumbai at the Pune Railway Station at 10.30 am on Sunday to be followed by his address to supporters at the same venue,8221; declared Pune Municipal Corporation PMC Leader of House Chandrakant Chhajed.

The mood was upbeat among the Aghadi corporators, Chhajed said while explaining that the celebrations were put off due to death of the mother of corporator Arun Dhimdhime this morning.

Chhajed, whose office at the PMC headquarters was packed with Aghadi supporters and well-wishers late evening, said that the Aghadi8217;s commitment to the development of Pune would now show positive results with Kalmadi8217;s election to the Rajya Sabha.

Eligibility List
With the postponement of the Common Entrance Examination CEE for admission to the jinxed MBBS/BDS courses after July 30, the timetable for displaying the eligibility list of candidates too has been postponed.

A faxed statement issued from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research DMER office, Mumbai said on Friday that the list of ineligible candidates will now be displayed on July 1 while the provisional regional eligible candidate list will be put up on July 2.

Objections will be invited on July 3 and 4 after which the regional final eligibility list will be displayed on July 9 and the State eligibility list on July 14. Formerly the CEE was to have been held on July 12. However, now the examination has been postponed to sometime after July 30.
