Spy case accused released on bail; held under NSA®One of the co-accused in the ISI-Spy case, David Kamlakar Manuel, was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) immediately after his bail order was delivered on Monday morning.

Manuel had been granted bail by Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Pradeep Meshram on Thursday after the police failed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated 90 days. Manuel’s lawyer, Sanjay Bhase-Patil had deposited the surety of Rs 25000 in the court on Saturday.

According to assistant commissioner of police (ACP) PN Ingle and inspector Surendra Patil, the investigating officer in the case arrested Manuel under the NSA. “The case has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation and we are assisting them. The Government of India had decided to transfer the case to the CBI along with other recent cases of ISI operatives reorted from different parts of the country,” said ACP Ingle.

Two others accused in the same case, Syebzada Badesaab Shaikh and Rajesh Yeshwant Kamble had also been granted bail by the court on Friday as their chargesheets had not been filed.
