MUMBAI, June 17: Trailing by a goal at the breather, Personnel Search Services (PSS) did well to down Young Boys (Siddharth) 3-1 in Group B of the MDFA-conducted Second Division football league at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel, today.

PSS dominated the proceedings even in the first-half, but their forwards were woefully off target and missed a dozen chances. To add to their woes, rival goalkeeper Suhas Kadam also brought off some fine saves.

Young Boys took the lead in the 11th minute after a top-of-the-box effort by Vaibhav Mohite, following a pass by Manoj Jadhav, beat PSS goalkeeper Christopher D’Silva hands down.

In the second-half, the PSS forwards combined well and scored three goals. Aaron D’Souza (2) and Nicholas Gomes were the goal-getters.

Lyall Pais and Nicholas Gomes were shown the yellow cards.

Promising player award

Chief Executive and Managing Director of Castrol India Ltd., Ram Savoor, has disclosed a scheme, "The Promising Five" for the benefit of junior cricketers. Thiswas announced at the function to announce the Castrol Awards for Cricketing Excellence scheme on Monday night, a press release said today. The winner of the five would stand to get a whopping Rs 50,000 while the rest would get Rs 25,000 each.
