NAWANSHAHR, July 19: Superintending Engineer (SE) of Nawanshahr circle A. K. Sood has urged the consumers to extend cooperation to Punjab State Electricity Board to enable the board to provide uninterrupted single phase supply. He said the farmers were being given three phase supply for 8 to 10 hours daily duing the present paddy season.

He said that in order to provide uninterrupted power, the capacity of 66 kv sub-station at Balachaur had been increased and 11 kv breakers had been installed there. Similarly, the capacity of 66 kv sub-station at Aur and Mukandpur was also being enhanced, Sood said. He said that in order to improve voltage, the work was in progress to upgrade 132 kv station at Gorayian to 220 kv sub-station.

Sood said adequate arrangements had been made to replace burnt transformers within 48 hours and in Kandi area, load-limit for the single phase consumers had been increased.

He said that during a drive against power theft, 167 persons were caught using condensers on single phase and a sum of Rs 2 lakh was collected as penalty from them. He urged the farmers to get the extra load regularised under the board’s scheme by September 1998. He said that a control room to provide service to consumers had been set up at Nawanhsahr. The consumers could get their complaints registered by dialling 22038, he added.
