SURAT, June 15: The protest against developments in Kargil and the role of the neighbouring country in fomenting insurgency in Kashmir continues unabated in South Gujarat. Hundreds of youths came out in large numbers in Bardoli and set fire to a few tyres. Personnel from the neighbouring police chowky rushed to the spot, where youths were shouting slogans denouncing Pakistan. Unconfirmed reports said a few stones were hurled at some houses to settle scores from the recent communal skirmishes in the town.
The Congress activists also took to the streets over the issue in Bardoli on Sunday evening to burn Sharif8217;s effigy and the Pakistan flag.
At Katargam crossroads and Baroda Rayon Corporation crossroads, the BJP Youth Morcha members took out a funeral of Nawaz Sharif as part of their protest. A band of youth shouting anti-Pakistan slogans flogged Sharif8217;s effigy with sticks before setting fire to it.
