The probe into complaints of atrocities on Christians in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan by the on-the-spot assessment team will begin from June 13.

The probe into complaints of atrocities on Christians in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan by the on-the-spot assessment team will begin from June 13.

It was The Indian Express who first reported that the Minority Affairs Ministry had directed the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) to assess the complaints in these BJP-ruled states.

The two-member NCM team with Harcharan Singh Josh and Lama Chosphel Zotpa will visit Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgrah between June 13 and June 18. After their return, they will go to Rajasthan.

The Commission team is scheduled to hold meetings in Bhopal with district magistrates and police chiefs of districts like Bhopal, Hoshnagabad, Betul and Jhabua to probe alleged attacks against Christians over the past six months.

Josh said the team would also meet church members and NGOs at places where there had been complaints.

In Chhattisgarh, the NCM members will meet among others Raipur district magistrate and superintendent of police besides holding a separate meeting with the community ’s leaders.
