CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: The activists of the General Insurance Employees Association held a rally here today in protest against the proposed privatisation of the insurance sector.
Association8217;s zonal vice-president Rakesh Chopra said the employees of all the four subsidiaries of GIC of India participated in the rally, which was a part of the ongoing nation-wide agitation by the Insurance employees.
The protestors also formed a human chain near the Piazza. The speakers flayed the move by the Central government to open the Insurance sector to private Indian and multinational companies. The Association has given a call for one-hour strike tomorrow. Employees raised slogans against the Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha.
