Murali Vijay’s unbeaten half-century consolidated Tamil Nadu’s position as the visitors reached 150 for two after bundling out Railways for 327 on the second day of their Group A match. Tamil Nadu bowlers first kept the Railways batsmen quiet before their batsmen played sensibly to end the day at a comfortable position at Karnail Singh Stadium. Vijay was batting on 65,with S Badrinath (33) for company at stumps.

Resuming at 242 for four,Railways added just 85 runs for the loss of six wickets today. Sanjay Bangar, who was on 111 yesterday, did not get support from the lower-order,carrying his bat through the innings for 163.

Pandey falls for 194,but Karnataka take control

Meerut: Uttar Pradesh were in the danger of conceding a big first-innings lead in their match against Karnataka as they ended the second day at 214 for the loss of eight wickets. After restricting Karnataka to 405,the UP batting struggled to get going,as Abhmanyu Mithun picked up a five-wicket haul on his first-class debut. Mithun dismissed opener Tanmay Srivastava and Mohammad Kaif in the same over and then came back to remove Parvinder Singh,as UP’s chase failed to take off.

Ahmedabad: Until Tuesday evening,Gujarat was the team that looked more likely to concede the first innings lead, with Orissa dominating the play. But it was a different-looking outfit that turned up on Wednesday,as they stopped Orissa’s batting to 192,to take a 78-run lead at the Sardar Patel Stadium. At close,Gujarat’s openers had put on five runs in their second innings.

Earlier,Orissa bowlers polished off the remaining three wickets to bring curtains on Gujarat innings at 270. But all thoughts of working towards a first-innings lead, was checked once Siddharth Trivedi dismissed skipper Shiv Sunder Das for a duck in the very first over. In fact most of the batsmen, except for Nirajan Behera, couldn’t make an impression on the disciplined bowling attack led by Trivedi.
