US will not interfere on Musharraf issue: Holbrooke

The US would not interfere on issues related to former Pakistani President,General Pervez Musharraf,a top Obama Administration official said.

The United States would not interfere on issues related to former Pakistani President,General Pervez Musharraf,a top Obama Administration official said on Friday.

8220;Former President Musharraf is former President Musharraf. He can say anything he wants. He doesn8217;t speak for the Government of Pakistan. He is free to do what he wants,both here and in Pakistan. And we will not interfere in the issues concerning him and his status. I want to stress that,8221; Richard Holbrooke,Special US Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan,said.

Musharraf is currently on a lecture tour in the United States,against whom the democratically elected Pakistani Government had recently lodged cases for 8220;illegally8221; detaining lawyers and also a case against killing of Baluch leaders. He reportedly faces arrest on return to Pakistan.

8220;As far as General Musharraf is concerned,General Musharraf is a private citizen now. I am not aware of any official contacts that we have had with General Musharraf. That8217;s not to exclude that we haven8217;t had official contacts,8221; State Department spokesman,Ian Kelly,also said at his daily news conference in response to a question.
