Lahiri wins PGTI championship

Continuing his impressive form,Anirban Lahiri fired a five-under 67 in the final round to clinch the PGTI Players Championship by a comfortable six-stroke margin. Lahiri ended with a total of 21-under 267 to claim his fourth title on the PGTI tour. Himmat Singh Rai shot a one-under 71 to total 15-under 273 for runner-up finish. Digvijay Singh fired a 67 in the final round to finish third at 10-under 278 and was followed by Shamim Khan at eight-under 280. Gaganjeet Bhullar and Mukesh Kumar shared the 12th place at three-under 285.

Skipper Cheteshwar Pujaras 73 went in vain as India A succumbed to a five-wicket loss against England Lions in the Triangular series at Leicester. Indias medal haul in athletics

Suresh Kumar bagged gold in the mens 10,000m at the 14th Asian Junior Athletics Championship with a time of 31:53.68. Ankit Sharma added a bronze to Indias kitty in mens long jump by clearing 7.77m. India now have five medals,including two gold. On Thursday,hammer thrower Harinder Singh cleared a new meet record distance of 71.53m for gold while Renubala Mahanta won silver and Sharda Ghule bronze in long jump.

Jangra upsets Ritwik in semis

Fourth seed Vikas Jangra shocked defending champion and top seed Ritwik Bhattacharya to storm into the mens final of the Otters Devotie Squash Open tournament. Jangra won 11-3,5-11,11-9,11-9. Among women,third seed Sachika Balvani beat Ankita Sharma 9-11,11-9,9-11,11-6,11-9 to advance to the final.
