Somdev not to speak to AITA committee

But Devvarman went ahead to establish a players body,Indian Tennis Players Association, which will also hear players out during its first general body meeting on Saturday.

Somdev Devvarman, who had led a players rebellion against the All India Tennis Association AITA in February, has refused to speak to the three-member committee set up by the federation to address players grievances. AITA has told the players that they can interact with the committee on Saturday morning but Devvarman says he will communicate only with AITA officials.

After the players had said they had lost faith in the federation post their pull-out from the tie against South Korea,AITA had appointed former Justice of Supreme Court,Deepak Verma, former chief secretary of Haryana,MC Gupta, and former tennis player Naresh Kumar to address player issues.

But Devvarman went ahead to establish a players body,Indian Tennis Players Association, which will also hear players out during its first general body meeting on Saturday.

Paes in 50th tie

Leander Paes is set to tick another milestone box on Saturday when he plays in his 50th Davis Cup tie. 50 ties, well thats not bad at all. Im quite proud to have come so far, he said.

Ive already played under Akhtar Ali and now I am playing under his son Zeeshan8230;I hope Im not around when the grandson comes along, Paes, who is three doubles wins short of the all-time record of 42,quipped.

His hunger for winning with different partners is far from over too. With Sanam Singh being his 94th different mens doubles mate,Paes is keen to hit a century in that count as well. There is still Somdev and Yuki who I havent played with, he says pointing at them,Im sure Ill find four more.
