Majority of shareholders removed former CEO Phaneesh Murthy for 8217;cause8217; from the iGATE Corp board by written consent in lieu of a meeting. Murthy8217;s removal will be effective from June 7,2013.
Murthy was sacked after a company sexual harassment investigation revealed that he had not disclosed a relationship with a subordinate. Related: The real Phaneesh Murthy scandal
The investigation has reached the finding that Murthy8217;s failure to report this relationship violated iGATE8217;s policy,as well as Murthy8217;s employment contract,it said.
Murthy,one of the industry8217;s best-known executives,was forced to quit India8217;s second-biggest software services exporter Infosys Ltd in 2002,following a sexual harassment lawsuit,which was settled out of court.
After leaving Infosys,Murthy founded a company that was bought by iGate. In 2011,he teamed up with buyout firm Apax Partners to conduct iGate8217;s USD 1.2 billion purchase of much-bigger Indian rival Patni Computer Systems.
