Russia favours resumption of Iran nuke talks

Russia favours to restart dialogue between Iran and the group of six international mediators.

Russia on Wednesday said it favours the resumption of parleys between Iran and the group of six international mediators on Tehran’s controversial nuclear programme.

“We would welcome it if Tehran handed over to the office of the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs an official communication to restart dialogue with the Six (UNSC P-5 and Germany),” Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko declared.

Talks between Tehran and the Iran-6 comprising the China,France,Germany,Russia,US,UK,Iran collapsed in 2009,after an IAEA resolution condemned the Islamic Republic over the construction of a second uranium enrichment facility.

On last Sunday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country was ready for a new round of talks but only on a number of conditions, including a comment by the Iran Six on Israel’s nuclear capability.
