the 30-year-old actor who is best known as Frodo Baggins,the goodhearted,quietly brave hobbit in The Lord of the Rings,is now set to appear as the clueless,cowardly Ryan,a neurotic single guy in his first TV series,Wilfred,a comedy which will begin on June 23. Wood was eight when he first started acting and besides The Lord of the Rings,his filmography includes Avalon,The Ice Storm,Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,The Oxford Murders and Bobby. Wilfred is Woods first outing as the lead in a television series,and also his first major attempt at playing for laughs.

Samuel L. Jackson,

the actor whos best known for his performance as an assassin,Jules,in Pulp Fiction has recorded an audiobook of Go the F8212; to Sleep,the parody childrens book that reached No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list. Jackson said in the introduction of the book,that he was anxious to do the audio read because when he read it,he fell out laughing. I remember all those times when Id read to my daughter and everybody tells you reading stories will put kids to sleep,but it never works. I did say,Go the F8212; to sleep a lot, he added.

Looney Tunes,

the animated cartoon series is set to return in a new series of 3-D computer generated shorts that will use vocals previously recorded by Mel Blanc,the voice artist and comedian who helped bring to life the animated antics of Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird which will begin appearing with Warner Brothers movies in the fall,Warner Brothers animation division said. The first of these shorts,Daffys Rhapsody,will find Elmer Fudd pursuing Daffy Duck during a musical performance and will include Blancs version of the song Daffy Ducks Rhapsody. That cartoon will make its debut on November 18 along with the Warner Brothers animated feature Happy Feet 2.
