Kerala takes overall honours

Three new national records were established on the last day of the championships. Navjit Kaur of Punjab winning the girls u-18 shot put with an effort of 14.89m.

Kerala collected a total of 465 points to win the overall championship in the Junior National Athletics Championships. Haryana with 422 points finished runners-up while hosts Uttar Pradesh (328 pts) occupied the third spot.

Three new national records were established on the last day of the championships. Navjit Kaur of Punjab winning the girls u-18 shot put with an effort of 14.89m.

Delhis Shakti Solanki set the record in the boys u-16 shot put with an effort of 17.89m while Anjana Thamke of Maharashtra clocked 54.57 in the girls under-16 400m run.

UPs Rahul Kumar Pal made new mark with a timing of 29:34.54 in the boys u-20 1000m. Rajesh Pandey set a new mark in the boys u-18 high jump with an effort of 2.09m while Poonam Singh clocked 17:22.87 in the girls (u-20) 5,000m run. Kisan Tadvi of Maharashtra clocked 8:44.69 to set a new meet record in the boys u-16 3000m run.

Meanwhile,Haryana emerged winners with 267 points in the boys section while UP (226 points) and TN (161 points) stood second and third.
