I always try to look for positives,says Whatmore

“It’s never a nice feeling when you lose but there is always a reason why things happen. I always try to look for positives. It does give us the opportunity to reassess (our position). We won three games but we lost two and we are very keen to bounce back,” the Australian said on the eve of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore here on Friday.

“Situation like this gives you a really good opportunity to analyse and examine situations in an effort to try and get things as correctly as possible. But if it continues like this,it will be worrying,” Whatmore said.

“But we are very much alive in the comeptition. We are keen to bounce back and I am expecting a strong peformance tomorrow,” he added.

So far in this tournament,chasing has not been KKR’s forte and in both their defeats,they batted second.

The coach said they would change their batting approach in Friday’s game.

“We have chased twice and lost twice. Those run chases in future can be approached in a slightly different way. We are always trying to improve the formation of the team in terms of the personnel and the batting order that would best suit for chasing a total,” Whatmore said.

Yusuf Pathan is uncertain for tomorrow’s match after injuring himself while taking a catch on Wednesday,but Whatmore said they were hopeful about his participation.

“He (Pathan) is still being assessed. We will see him Friday morning but we are hopeful. He is pretty keen to play,” the coach said.

Asked about Pathan’s form,Whatmore said,”It will come. We all know what he is capable of. He did not get opportunities as often as he would have liked and a few more others.”

Royals. Then all of a sudden he comes and faces the opposition in a pressure situation. Same with (Eoin) Morgan,” he said,agreeing with Gambhir’s comment that KKR’s middle-order was yet to be tested.
