FIFA8217;s Bin Hammam criticises WCup bidding process

A senior member of FIFA8217;s executive committee has criticised the decision to vote on the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts at the same time in December.

Asian Football Confederation President Mohamed Bin Hammam said,8221;to decide something for 2022 is quite a long time away. You don8217;t know what will happen in these 12 years8230;2022 should be decided in 2016.8221;

The Qatari,whose homeland is bidding for the 2022 edition,believes it was a commercial decision to guarantee the revenue coming into FIFA.

Hammam,who is one of 24 World Cup voters,also told the Leaders in Football conference yesterday that if the 2022 tournament doesn8217;t go to Asia he expects China to bid for 2026.
