Ponting not excited with Warne8217;s comeback hint

Shane Warne may have hinted at his possible comeback but captain Ricky Ponting does not see the idea materialising.

Shane Warne may have hinted at his possible comeback against arch-rivals England for the next Ashes but Cricket Australia and captain Ricky Ponting do not see the idea materialising even if the legendary spinner is good enough for the challenge.

CA8217;s Philip Pope on Tuesday said the story was a 8220;fairytale8221;. 8220;We should all have a bit of perspective. Stuart MacGill is looking as fit as I8217;ve seen him in the last few years. He8217;s over in the West Indies taking wickets, he8217;s preparing to play a Test match for Australia,8221; he said.

8220;I spoke to Shane when he came into the office before he left for India and this kind of story certainly wasn8217;t on his agenda,8221; he was quoted as saying by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

8220;If Australia really needed me and there was no one else around, and Ricky Ponting thought I could do the job, you would weigh up the options,8221; Warne said.

Interestingly, Warne had also admitted his return would be a 8220;fairytale8221; but said he would weight up the options in case Stuart MacGill was unavailable for Ashes and Ponting says 8216;please help us out8217;.

8220;If Stuey Stuart MacGill fell over and broke his leg, and there were no other spinners around, and Ricky came out and said, 8216;Mate, can you please help us out for this one-off tour? We need you8217;, that is something I would weigh up.8221;

8220;If you could just turn up and play Test cricket, that would be cool. I would definitely consider that8221; Warne said on Monday.

Ponting also did not take the suggestion seriously and said he did not see it happening.
