Dehradun police teams have fanned out to Chandigarh and Delhi in a bid to nab three Doon School students who were involved in a hit-and- run that left a school teacher dead and another seriously injured. The three were allegedly racing down the road in a Honda City car after a drinking party on the night of March 28.

According to Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Gunjial, some students of Doon School and Welham Girls School had arranged a party to celebrate the end of their board examinations in a local restaurant on March 28. The party shifted to a farm house on Rajpur Road after the students got to know that two Doon School teachers were present in the restaurant.

After the party got over, the students in their cars indulged in a race on the busy Rajpur Road. “The Honda City speeding down the wrong side crushed Vikrant Singh and Rahul Sharma who were on their way home on a motorbike,” Gunjial said.

After the accident, the occupants of the car fled from the scene. Both the seriously injured were taken to the Doon Hospital where Singh succumbed to his injuries. Sharma continues to be in a serious condition. Police officials said inquiries revealed that the car was driven by Abhimanyu Walia, son of Arun Walia, a resident of Chandigarh. Parnav Swaroop, son of Raghav Swaroop, a resident of Muzzafarnagar and Uday Partap Singh, a resident of Defence Colony, Delhi, accompanied him.
