PIL seeks probe into Lalu146;s assets

Bihar Janata Dal U president Rajiv Ranjan Singh 8216;Lallan8217; has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court, seeking an independent and impartial probe by the CBI and Central Board of Direct Taxes CBDT 8220;into pecuniary assets8221; allegedly acquired by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family and associates.

Blaming Lalu for abusing his official position as Railway Minister during the last four years, Singh, who resigned recently in protest against attacks on non-Marathis in Maharashtra, has prayed for initiation of a probe into the source of payment for several land deals, allegedly entered into by Lalu.

In the fodder scam allegations against Lalu were indirect. He was charged with conspiracy. But here he and his family members were 8220;directly involved8221;, alleged the petition.
