PUNE, March 17: Noted lavni and bhavgeet singer Kumudini Pednekar passed away here on Tuesday following a heart attack. She was 68 and is survived by two sons and a daughter and son-in-law, theatre personalities Amruta and Ajit Satbhai.

A contemporary of Gajanan Watwe and Baban Navdikar, Pednekar had been suffering from asthama. Her asthmatic attacks turned severe since last week and she suffered a heart attack on Tuesday morning, family sources said.

Her first song recorded by the All India Radio Pune Centre was Ghalile Mee Suprabhati Pani Tulshila. She also sang the lavnis in the play Bin Biyanche Jhad. Some of her famous songs include Chal Chal Chandra Pasar Chandne, Kalidar Kapoori Pan, Majha Sang Pangtit Bolu Naka and Rama Kadhi Re Yeshil Tu. The last two songs were incidentally from the film Dev Pavla which was directed by P L Deshpande.
