PUNE, Aug 5: The next time one enters the premises of the imposing main building of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation PCMC, the person will not notice anything new. Citizens and everyone who come over here for their work may also not realize that every movement of all visitors at this building, right from the main entrance up to the exit gates and also at all the four floors inside, will be closely watched from now on, all as part of security measures.8217;

The work of installation of a closed circuit television network has been completed and its trials were also conducted recently. A total of 16 cameras have been fixed inside the building as well as covering all the areas around it. Three monitors, at the office of the municipal commissioner, mayor and at the security department, have been installed to view the movements of the people in and around the building.

The cameras are in a fixed position but cover a wide area, a person of the security agency which completed the work said. Pictures covered by two cameras can be swapped continuously on the monitor. The network will act as a hindrance to employees unnecessarily leaving their offices. The PCMC has spent Rs 10 lakh for the work.
