NEW DELHI, JULY 7: The Pakistan Cricket Board today pulled up its team manager in Sri Lanka Brig Mohammed Nasir for describing India as the quot;hub of match-fixingquot;, raising speculations that he could soon be sacked for his controversial remarks.
PCB Chairman General Tauqir Zia called Nasir in Colombo and conveyed to him his quot;unhappiness, anger and disappointmentquot; over the remarks, website Go4cricket.Com reports quoting sources close to PCB.
The PCB Chairman is currently in Kuala Lumpur for the ongoing Under-15 Asia Cup and a decision on the manager8217;s fate was expected to be taken after he reaches Colombo tomorrow. quot;I am also waiting for his decision. The matter is being handled on priority basis by the PCB Chairmanquot;, PCB Director Yawar Saeed was quoted as saying.
PCB reacted to Nasir8217;s criticial remarks following a formal protest lodged by BCCI secretary J Y Lele. In a strongly worded letter, Lele had urged PCB to restrain Nasir as it might undermine the efforts to normalise cricketing relations between the two neighbours.
However, sources said Zia called Yawar Saeed yesterday and told him about his telephonic conversation with Nasir. The two senior PCB officials also discussed the options available to them after Nasir entered the out-of-bounds area.
One of the most likely option is to ask Nasir to throw in the towel, the website said.
