DEC 25: Baroda medium pacer Rakesh Patel bowled his team back into the match with a five wicket haul to contain Mumbai to 255 all out in their second innings on the third day of the West Zone Ranji Trophy cricket league match at MIG Club here on Monday.

Baroda, after conceeding a huge 208 run first innings lead to Mumbai looked in real trouble before Patel (5-84) and his new ball partner Zaheer Khan (1-57), spinners Valmik Buch (1-41), Sukhbir Singh (1-45) and Ajit Bhoite (1-24) bowled intelligently to restrict the hosts.

At the end of the third day, the visitors had made 75-1 from 22 overs and still need 389 runs for an outright victory with a day to spare.

Opening batsman Connor Williams on 26 and Himanshu Jadhav on 11 were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

Earlier, in the morning Mumbai resumed their second innings on 32-1 after scoring 410 allout in their first innings.

Middle-order batsman Amol Muzumdar was the top scorer for the hosts in their second innings with a polished 81 off 157 balls with eleven fours after overnight batsman Sairaj Bahutul (11), southpaw Vinod Kambli (10), Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar (5) all fell in quick succession to Patel.

Apart from Muzumdar, skipper Sameer Dighe scored a crisp 52 off 107 balls with eight fours and tailender Ramesh Powar got a quick fire unbeaten 36 off 24 balls with seven fours and a six to take Mumbai to 255 off 78.2 overs in 360 minutes.
