NAGPUR, FEB 17: The parents of the students of local Bhavan’s Bhagvandas Purohit Vidya Mandir have threatened to proceed court against the `indiscriminate’ fee hike implemented by the from January 2000.

Addressing a press conference here, a number of parents said that discussion held with the school management regarding review on the decision of fee hike, failed to produce any positive results. The parents have decided to meet the Deputy Director of Education, State Minister for Education, Chief Minister and the Director of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in this regard.

If these discussions fail to produce any results, the parents will take legal recourse. They have also decided not to pay the hiked fee.

The parents presented a comparative chart of fees and claimed that the fees have been hiked by more than 250 per cent during the last five years. The fee for nursery to KG II during 1995 was Rs 115, it has been hiked to Rs 423 now. Similarly, the fees for Standard I to V have been hiked from 150 to Rs 560, they pointed out.

The annual development fee which was Rs 200 in 1995 has been hiked to Rs 1,000 now. Apart from this, the school collected Rs 10,000 as deposit and membership fees from the parents only two years ago. This, they said, is proving to be financially very burdening.
