
CALCUTTA, SEPT 6: The West Bengal government on Monday formed a five-member committee under the chairmanship of the state Municipal Affairs Secretary, Ashok Mohan Chakraborty, to inquire into the causes of the fire that gutted a part of the Anandabazar Patrika building on Friday.
Two persone were killed and seven others injured in the blaze which gutted a major part of the third and fourth floors of the building.
State Municipal Affairs Minister Ashok Bhattacharya told newspersons here that Municipal Commissioner Asim Burman, Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) of City Police Narayan Ghosh, state Forensic Laboratory Director Nirmal Nag and state Fire Services Deputy Director Baren Sen will be the members of the committee.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within six weeks.
The terms of reference of the committee include causes of the fire, role of firemen, and whether the fire fighting equipement in the building were operated.
It will also probe if fire brigade equipmentvehicles were properly used.
