
AHMEDABAD, Nov 26: In a recent order the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Ahmedabad City, directed opponents Premier Automobiles Limited with its registered office at Kurla, North Mumbai, and its local office at Navrangpura, to pay complainant Kamleshkumar Vishandas Hemnani of Sabarmati, a sum of Rs 20,000 along with interests at the rate of 9 per cent per annum from the date of booking to March 1, 1997 and at the rate of 18 per cent per annum beginning March 2 1997 till date of payment.
The order also comes with costs amounting to Rs 1,000.
The complainant had booked a Premier 1.38-D and paid the booking amount of Rs 22,000 after which he had received a priority number. However, Hemnani cancelled the booking on March 1, 1997, and requested the opponents to refund his booking amount. But as Premier Automobiles Ltd., failed to do so Hemnani filed the present suit at the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, here claiming Rs 20,000 along with interest, cost and compensation. In his complaint Hemnani also states that he had filed documentary evidence in support of his claim.
The Consumer Forum in its order has given the opponents one month8217;s time 8212; after the receipt of it8217;s order 8212; to comply with its directions. While the case for Hemnani was argued by advocate R H Sehjani, that for Premier Automobiles Ltd was represented by H H Patel.
