BHUBANESWAR, JULY 29: In a twist to the Balasore sex scandal, the victim has denied that she was ever sexually abused, or that she had come to Bhubaneswar on July 9, the day she was reportedly harassed at Krishna Towers here.
The girl said she had attended typing and shorthand classes at the Usharani Modern Commercial Institute on July 9 and 10. She also said she attended the inaugural function of Fakir Mohan University at Balasore on July 11.
“I am not under pressure and nobody has bribed me to say this,” the girl told newspersons here on Wednesday.
In an affidavit filed in the court of the executive magistrate, Cuttack on July 28, she maintained that she had never accompanied Pravasini Kar, the physical education and training (PET) instructor of Kuntala Kumari Sabat Women’s College to Bhubaneswar either on, before or after July 9.
She also denied allegations that the PET instructor had assured her of a job. “Kar is my teacher and I have regard for her,” the girl said in her affidavit.
The girl also described the report of the State Commission for Women and other news items published about her as "false, frivolous, baseless, concocted” with the motive of damaging her reputation. “All the staff of my college including the principal are liars,” said the girl.
She also said she did not know any social activist called Jagannath Bindhani. The SCW had used Bindhani’s information as basis for investigation and recommended a Crime Branch probe into the incident, stringent action against Kar and transfer of the KKS Women’s College principal. The Goverment has already ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into the incident.
Asked why the principal of KKS Women’s College had falsely told the SCW chairperson of her narrating the July 9 incident, the girl said, “How can the principal say such things when I have not given anything in writing?”
The girl, who was also the athletic secretary of KKS Women’s College, denied she had come across a bearded man wearing a cap, who allegedly made an indecent gesture to her on July 9 night.
She said she had not been provided security till date and did not require police protection either. The Chief Minister had, on Tuesday, assured the State Assembly that the girl would be provided police protection.
