CHANDIGARH, July 27: The UT Education Department, in collaboration with Indian Association of Physics teachers IAPT, will be organising a six-day teacher8217;s orientation course for Physics lecturers of senior secondary schools in the city at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, from August 3 to 8.
The course, which will mainly focus on the practical aspect of Physics, will be attended by teachers from 25 government and 15 private schools.
Emphasis will laid upon the need of experimental work in teaching physics as the subject cannot be learnt without experiments.
It has been observed that experiments are mostly neglected in syllabi of Physics. As the competitive examinations for professional courses are based on theory, so experimental work is generally neglected by students and teachers.
During the course, participants will be made to do experiments under the supervision of resource persons who will remove their difficulties on the spot. Each participant will be given a kit designed by IAPT and a laboratory manual giving details of all experiments. Principal of GMSSS-23, Ram Kumar, will be the coordinator of the course.
