MUMBAI, June 8: ONGC defeated Sutarwar Sahar 1-0, after a barren first-half, to make the semi-finals of the Air-India Trophy Football tournament, sponsored by Air-India and conducted by the MDFA, at the St Xavier8217;s ground, Parel, today.

It was Sutarwar, who held the upperhand in the first-half, but their forwards were off the target. And to add to their woes, ONGC goalkeeper Sandip Sawant twice frustrated the Sutarwar8217;s attempts when all seemed lost for ONGC.

Natraj Swamy got the better of Sutarwar goalkeeper Trevor Fernandes from close range in the 33rd minute for what turned out to be the eventual match-winner for ONGC.

In the last minute, Sutarwar almost equalised. But Ashley Almeida, who shot the ball goalwards, had the mortification of seeing his effort rebound off the post, before being cleared out of harm8217;s way by a defender.
