One remanded for murder

MUMBAI, May 10: The tenth metropolitan magistrate S Murkute today remanded one Muriappan Uniyafavar, who was absconding after murdering his friend on Saturday last, to police custody till May 20.

According to the police, on the evening of May 8 when Muriappan 27 a canteen supervisor at the Hindustan Lever Limited Company picked up a quarrel with his friend Dilip Mendonca 25 over an alleged affair between Dilip and his wife8217;s cousin.

Muriappan allegedly under the influence of alcohol stabbed Dilip to death and fled. He was arrested by the police at Dharavi late on Sunday.
