The two convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Murugan and his wife Nalini, who had been on an indefinite fast demanding a student visa for their daughter, Arithra, to allow her to pursue further studies in India, were admitted to the Vellore government hospital today.
The two were said to have been on a fast for about 18 days. Vellore Collector, Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, told The Indian Express that both were ‘‘perfectly fine”.
Both of them for the first time went on fast to put pressure on Indian officials to allow their teenaged daughter to visit them in January last. They said that they were worried about her safety.
