Nupur Talwar seeks restriction on filmmaking in Aarushi case

Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhary also termed such attempts by filmmakers as ‘unfortunate’.

“This is very insensitive towards a minor. It is unfair to sensationalise the matter like making film and teleserials on the issue. The case is pending for further investigation and using the subject for anything like this is uncalled for,” Chowdhary said.

“The whole situation is such that everyone should restrict themselves to talk about it unless there is some breakthrough in the case. It is inappropriate to talk about it when the things have only reached halfway,” said the minister.

The minister has decided to take up the matter with the Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi.

“Under the Juvenile Justice Act, we will take the matter with the I&B ministry. We would ensure that the ministry looks into the matter and no one makes a film or a teleserial on the issue,” she said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation is probing the twin murder case of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and her family’s domestic help Hemraj.

The case, which was registered by Noida Police, was re-registered by CBI’s Special Crime Branch this morning against unknown persons.

Aarushi was found murdered with her throat slit on May 16 at the Noida Sector 25 home of the Talwars and the body of Hemraj was recovered from the terrace the next day.

Rajesh Talwar, the dentist father of Aarushi, has been booked by the Noida Police and is currently in judicial custody.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had last week recommended a CBI inquiry into the incident following requests from the Talwar family. Nupur has claimed that her husband was innocent and that the Noida Police has framed him.
