
PATIALA, JUNE 14: Manpreet Gill, a well-known theatre and film personality and director of a big budget Punjabi feature film, Chann Mahi, which is nearing completion, yesterday lauded the role of National Theatre Arts Society NTAS, Patiala, in providing effective theatre training to the youngsters and for inculcating self-confidence, discipline and unity among them.
He was inaugurating the one-month-long teenagers8217; theatre workshop, Long Live Punjab8217;, being organised by the National Theatre Arts Society here.Addressing the inaugural question-answer session, Gill emphasised the need for hard work to realise one8217;s latent powers and make one8217;s dreams come true.
Pran Sabharwal and Sunita Sabharwal, the director and convenor of the project, respectively, said that besides preliminary information, practical training would be given in vital aspects of theatre, such as speech and self-projection, acting and movements, group improvisations, make-up etc.
The workshop participants were selected through a special talent search programme, chaired by the veteran theatre and radio drama artist, Rajinder Verma. The search was conducted earlier by NTAS in commemoration of the 27th death anniversary of Prithviraj Kapoor.
Gopal Sharma, Parminder Bains, M. S. Nagina, Nirmal Nimma, Kummad Sabharwal, Surjit Singh and Amit Tandon are other theatre activists involved in the venture.
