A New Jersey based NRI, Dipak Desai, has been missing from his relative’s home for the past three days under mysterious circumstances. Desai, a father of three, went missing from his sister-in-law’s house in VIP Road on Saturday night. He had arrived in Vadodara in January with his two daughters and was expected to leave in June.

On Sunday morning, his brother-in-law could not find him in his bed and noticed drops of blood on the staircase. Desai’s chappals were found lying near the gate.

‘‘We chatted till midnight, the night before. He woke up around 2 am and came inside to drink water,’’ said Desai’s sister-in-law, Dipti Patel.

‘‘We had given him separate keys for the house and next morning I found them with the lock hanging by the gate,’’ said Desai’s brother-in-law, Rohit Patel.

Desai’s separated wife Purnima, who lives at their Brindavan Society residence, just across the road, has also been missing ever since the incident occurred.

Purnima was deprived of custodial rights of her three children after a court ruling. A family member said that following the seven year separation, Desai was intending to apply for divorce during his stay here and Purnima was averse to the idea. He also wanted her to vacate his house.
