The country’s top military scientists and establishments have been granted beefed up security apparatus following the yesterday’s terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.

Quick reaction teams, bomb squads and armed guards have been deployed across Bangalore’s military-industrial establishments, while DRDO’s weapon scientists have been given additional security in the form of residential police patrols.

The decision was taken late last night at a meeting of top Defence Ministry officials. The IAF has been especially alarmed by the attack, given that its Training Command headquarters is located barely metres away from the IISc campus.

An IAF spokesperson said today that security had been beefed up to its maximum level at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment, the Yelahanka Air Force Station, HAL airport and 27 Equipment Depot, a crucial warehousing system where spare parts for the fighter fleet are stored.

The defence research establishments under maximum guard in the city include the Centre for Airborne Systems, Aeronautical Development Agency, Defence Avionics Research Establishment and Gas Turbine Research Establishment.
