Mumbai, Oct 4: The recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission will be implemented for about 2,653 non-teaching staff in aided, private polytechnic and engineering colleges in the State with retrospective effect from January one, 1996.

The decision to this effect was taken at the Cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya here today, sources in the Chief Minister’s office said.

The arrears from January one, 1996 to September 30, 1998 would be accumulated in the provident fund. The State Government has already decided to implement the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission to the teaching staff in the aided, private polytechnique and engineering colleges.
