Kerala-based Muslim outfit National Development Front said it had no links with any terrorist organisation outside the state and accused the CPI(M) of hatching a `conspiracy to brand the front as a fundamentalist group’.

‘Our activists have no links with any militant outfit and the ongoing campaign is only to label us as a fundamentalist group,’ NDF state General Secretary Abdul Majeed Faizi told reporters.

The clarification comes in the wake of reports appearing in a section of the media that one of the two persons hailing from the state who were killed recently in an encounter with the police in Jammu and Kashmir belonged to the Front.

Charging CPI(M) state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan with making false allegations against NDF, Faizi said `Vijayan’s remark that the Front is working as a recruiting agency of militants in the state is unwarranted and without facts’.

Though the state Home Ministry had confirmed that the duo belonged to the state, it had, however, not connected them with the NDF in any manner, he said.

`Such false charges at this stage will only help the real culprits to go scot free and prevent facts from being brought to light’, Faizi added.
